We are using the Notice and Note by Kylene Beers and Robert E. Probst this year in our 6th grade classrooms. They have helped our students to close read fiction. They are things for students to watch for while they are doing their 40 book challenge that Donna Miller's The Book Whisperer suggests, When they NOTICE these different things or signposts, they TAKE NOTE of what that will mean in the novel. They are so fun to listen to "Oh I have found and Aha moment or here is a tough question. TO help with the Sign Posts we created PowerPoint's so it makes more sense.

Search Helps for Google

Have you ever tried to search for something an a lot of the results of the search lead you to something undesirable? I have too . I found a little help to make this everyday practice more successful. Search Helps. Another awesome discovery is  Google Cultural Institute  what a great way to go on a field trip for cheap!  This looks like it would be a great place for doing research also.

Overcoming obstacles

Overcoming obstacles are at the feet of all of us. I have always wanted to create a blog and share my ideas with others but have been too intimidated to do so. Well it is time to face my fears or lack of time and start to share my dreams. What kind of leader am I if I don't? Well it takes time to learn new things so today its going to be short but I did find a great video with Ormie the Pig.
